 Synthetic Round Slings

1. Do not exceed rated capacity.
2. Select sling by rated load shown on tag and not by color.
3. Consult manufacturer for use chemically active environments.
4. Do not use in temperatures in excess of 180°F.
5. Fittings shall have sufficient strength to sustain twice the rated
load of the round slings without permanent deformation.
6. Round slings shall have a minimum design factor of 5.
7. Slings shall be permanently marked with manufacturer's name, code number, rated load for type of hitches, type of synthetic material, if different from core.
8. Use softeners (padding) between sharp edges and sling.
9. Do not drag slings across floor or over an abrasive surface.
10. Do not rest loads on slings and do not pull slings from under loads.
11. Place sling(s) in center bowl of hook.
12. Calculate additional tension due to angles.
13. Do not shorten or lengthen slings using knots.
14. Personnel stand clear of suspended load.
15. Do not constrict, bunch or pinch sling by load or hook.
16. Store slings by hanging in a cool dry location.
Remove if:
• Evidence of heat damage
• Acid or caustic burns
• Snags, punctures, tears or cuts that expose the inner yarns
• Crushing
• Distortion of fittings
• Broken or worn stitching in the cover which expose the yarns
• No tag or illegible tag
• Damage from weld splatter
• Knots in any part of the sling
• UV/sunlight degradation
• Excessive pitting or corrosion cracked, distorted or broken fittings
• Other visible damage that causes doubt as to strength of sling
• Sling eye has opened up
