 Synthetic Web Slings
1. Do not exceed rated capacity.
2. Do not use nylon web near acid.
3. Do not use in temperatures in excess of 180°F.
4. Do not use knots to form eyes
5. Manufacturers stitching is the only acceptable method to
attach end fittings and form eyes.
6. Fittings shall be of minimum breaking strength equal to
that of the sling.
7. Slings shall be permanently marked with manufacturer's
name, code number, rated load for type of hitches and
type of synthetic material.
8. Use softeners (padding) between sharp edges and sling.
9. Do not drag slings. Do not pull slings from under loads.
10. Place sling(s) in center bowl of hook.
11. Calculate additional tesion due to angles.
12. Do not shorten or lengthen slings using knots.
13. Personnel stand clear of suspended load.,
14. Store slings by hanging in a cool dry location.
Remove if Evidence of:
• Heat damage
• Acid or caustic burns
• Snags
• Punctures
• Tears or Cuts
• Crushing
• Abrasion/wear
• Distortion of fittings
• Broken or worn stitches
• No tag or illegible tag
• Damaged end attachment
• Knots in any part of the sling
• UV/sunlight degradation
• Excessive pitting or corrosion cracked, ditorted or broken fittings
• Other visivle damage that causes doubt as to strength of sling
• Sling eye has opened up
